Facial wrinkles (rhytids) can be caused by a variety of factors, including volume loss, relaxation or loosening of fibrous and muscular structures, and loss of bone volume. BOTOX® can be used to treat fine facial wrinkles that are the result of another specific cause: repetitive facial muscle motion. These include frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the outside of the eyes, and forehead lines.

In addition, BOTOX®, is used to treat neck bands, fine lines around the mouth and chin, and fine lines of the nose (“bunny lines”). As experienced facial rejuvenation specialists, Dr. Andrea Garcia and Dr. Josh Surowitz offer BOTOX® in Charlotte, NC, and the surrounding areas of North Carolina and South Carolina.
BOTOX® is the most popular cosmetic treatment offered in the United States and can be used as a complement to surgical procedures (such as brow lift, eyelid lift, and facelift) and injectable fillers, or for patients seeking a standalone, minimally invasive treatment that provides a more youthful look.

How Do BOTOX® Treatments Work?
The active ingredient in BOTOX® blocks chemical signals that trigger muscle contractions. This block fades over time, and normal muscle action eventually returns.
Results from BOTOX® injections can be seen within seven to 10 days after treatment. These results will typically last for approximately three months. At Dilworth Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz strive to give patients a long-lasting, refreshed appearance. We pride ourselves on natural results, while avoiding the “frozen” or over-treated look.
How Much Does BOTOX® Cost in Charlotte, NC?
BOTOX® is priced by the unit. The number of units necessary for the most natural and long-lasting results will vary from patient to patient depending upon the areas treated, since each region of the face is individually assessed. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Andrea Garcia and Dr. Josh Surowitz to discuss your personalized treatment plan.
Is BOTOX® Safe?
BOTOX® is both well tolerated and safe. The most commonly reported side effects associated with BOTOX® injections are injection-site bruising, mild swelling, and headaches, all of which are temporary. To minimize the risk of these mild side effects, we recommend elevation of the head for approximately three hours after treatment, avoidance of strenuous exercise for 12 hours, and avoidance of direct massage to the treated areas.

More Options for Smoothing Wrinkles
Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® at Dilworth Facial Plastic Surgery are injectables that block chemical signals that trigger muscle contractions. These can be used to safely and temporarily relax the muscles that create frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the outside of the eyes, forehead lines, neck bands, fine lines around the mouth and chin, and fine lines on the nose. Dr. Andrea Garcia and Dr. Josh Surowitz administer injections during a short and comfortable office visit, with results appearing within days and lasting for several months. Treatments can be repeated to maintain a smooth look long term.
Dysport® is set apart from the other injectables for two reasons: Results tend to appear sooner, and it tends to very slightly diffuse into nearby tissue, making it well suited for treating areas where wrinkles are more spread out. Your doctor will help you determine which injectable is best suited for your unique needs, including the area or areas where your wrinkles appear, the severity of the wrinkles, and your desired final results.
As noted above some facial wrinkles and fine lines can be the result of volume loss and sagging facial tissues. These types of lines and wrinkles can be improved with dermal fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Volbella, Vollure, Voluma, Restylane, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne and Restylane Lyft.

As a result of the aging process, deeper wrinkles may appear due to further facial volume loss, loosening of the fibrous and muscular structures, and loss of bone volume. In such cases, surgical correction with a facelift, browlift, and/or eyelid lift will provide a longer-lasting solution to restore a more youthful appearance.
