At Dilworth Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Garcia works collaboratively with fellow dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Josh Surowitz. Education & Training

A North Carolina native who grew up in Concord, Dr. Andrea Garcia has strong ties to the Tar Heel State. She earned her medical degree in North Carolina and completed advanced training in head and neck surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery before returning to the Charlotte area to practice near her hometown.

Her education and specialty training include:

• Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship, accredited by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Mentored by Dr. Calvin Johnson, internationally recognized in the field of facial cosmetic surgery for innovations in rhinoplasty and surgery of the aging face
• Residency in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio
• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina
• Undergraduate Studies, Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina

Dr. Garcia’s fellowship was dedicated to extensive training in rhinoplasty, facelift, brow lift, and eyelid surgery. She also has a special interest in scar revision, skin cancer reconstruction of the face and surgery for nasal breathing.

Training the Next Generation of Facial Plastic Surgeons

Dr. Garcia devotes a significant amount of time to education. She is currently on faculty as an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Department of Head and Neck Surgery. She regularly lectures to residents and medical students and instructs young head and neck surgeons in the operating room during facial plastic and reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Garcia also actively lectures nationally at meetings for both head and neck surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She serves on numerous education committees.

Outside the Office

Dr. Garcia lives in Charlotte with her husband Ryan and her children Clayton and Hadley. The Garcias enjoy traveling, enjoying good food and quality family time, and are avid Panthers fans. She is proud to call North Carolina home, having grown up in Concord, North Carolina.
