A brow lift (or “forehead lift”) in Charlotte, NC, is a powerful surgical procedure that rejuvenates the forehead, brows, and, in many cases, the upper eyelids, giving you a refreshed, more youthful look. People of various ages turn to this procedure when they want to look as rested and awake on the outside as they feel on the inside.
Dr. Andrea Garcia and Dr. Josh Surowitz use the brow lift to reposition the brow to counter the aging process. Striving for the most natural results, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz utilize the most advanced techniques to create facial harmony while never making you appear “overdone.”
Who Is a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Over time, volume loss and the downward pull of gravity cause sagging in the upper face, which can hood the eyes and create a perpetual look of tiredness or anger. Men and women who want a more naturally pleasant expression frequently choose a brow lift to counter the effects of aging and time.

Credentials You Can Trust
How Is a Brow Lift Performed?
A forehead lift is commonly performed using sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz will use one of two primary techniques: either an endoscopic or open brow lift.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift involves the use of a small camera and specialized instruments placed through several short incisions hidden in the scalp. This allows “endoscopic” access to the tissues of the forehead. Once lifted, the tissues are secured into their more natural position. This technique also allows the doctor to very precisely target the tissues necessary for a successful brow lift. Recovery time and scar formation are potentially reduced when using the endoscopic brow lift. Endoscopic brow lifts are not for everyone. Only Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz can determine if this procedure is right for you.
Open Brow Lift
An open brow lift may be performed using incisions placed at the hairline (trichophytic brow lift) or farther up on the top of the scalp (coronal brow lift). The placement of the incision will depend upon the needs and position of the hairline in each person.
Both techniques are intended to hide any resulting scar. The open forehead lift also allows for direct visualization of the forehead tissue for precise repositioning. After making necessary changes, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz will redrape the skin and suture it in place to reveal the new lifted and youthful contours.
The selection of an endoscopic or open brow lift technique depends on the nature of your facial aging, hairline, and forehead size and shape. Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz will work with you to choose the method that will give the greatest access to the tissues in question while leaving the least amount of evidence a lift was performed.
What Is Brow Lift Recovery Like?
Brow lift patients will experience some bruising and swelling after their surgery, but these effects will fade within the first few weeks. The incisions typically take at least 10 days to heal, with recovery and recuperation lasting several weeks. Patients typically feel comfortable returning to work and other daily life activities after 7 to 14 days, depending upon the technique used.
Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz will give you specific post-surgery instructions, including care, proper medications for preventing infection and minimizing discomfort, the timeline for removal of bandages and sutures, and the appropriateness of makeup.
Results of a brow lift are visible immediately after the procedure, with the ultimate outcome apparent once the swelling and bruising fade.
Procedures to Complement a Brow Lift
Patients who are not yet ready to choose surgery may opt for other treatments. In many cases, BOTOX® Cosmetic can result in a “chemical brow lift” or “liquid brow lift” by relaxing the muscles that tend to pull down the brow. In addition, BOTOX can be used to relax forehead muscles to prevent the appearance of horizontal forehead wrinkles and enhance surgical results.
