What Is a Deep Neck Lift?
A deep neck lift is a personalized plastic surgery procedure that reduces fullness under the chin and along the neck while adding definition to the jawline and angle between the jaw and neck (cervicomental angle). Unlike procedures that primarily address lax skin and superficial fat, a deep neck lift contours structures beneath the platysma muscle that contribute to this fullness.

Deep Neck Lift vs. Neck Liposuction
Neck liposuction removes excess fat located above the platysma muscle and can be effective when superficial fat is the primary cause of fullness. A deep neck lift goes beneath the platysma to address deeper fat and, when appropriate, other structures that contribute to an undesirable neck contour.
The right procedure, therefore, depends less on how much fullness you see and more on which anatomical structures are causing it.
Can a Deep Neck Lift Be Combined With a Facelift?

How Is a Deep Neck Lift Performed?
Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz perform deep neck lift surgery in our fully accredited, on-site surgical suite with general anesthesia administered by an M.D. anesthesiologist. Incisions are typically concealed in the natural crease beneath the chin and behind the earlobes. When combined with a deep plane facelift, the surgeon can access portions of the neck through the facelift incisions.
Dr. Garcia and Dr. Surowitz operate together throughout the procedure to restore definition that follows the natural anatomy. With this two-surgeon approach, they can work efficiently while drawing on their combined training in head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery to contour the neck’s complex structures safely.
Once the surgery is complete and the incisions are closed, the face and neck are wrapped in a soft compression bandage.
What Is Deep Neck Lift Recovery Like?
After deep neck contouring on its own, patients are usually ready to return to school, nonstrenuous work, and normal daily activities in 1 to 2 weeks. When combined with other procedures, recovery varies with the specifics of the surgery and individual patient factors.
